Tickets can now be purchased for the 2024 Manchester Film Weekender on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th February 2024. The weekend, hosted by Isabelle Vanderschelden and John Grieve, will focus on European Film Noir.

The theme for the 2023 Manchester Film Weekender is French Comedy Cinema. The dates are Friday 3rd February - Sunday 5th February 2023.

This short festival of French language film aims to introduce audiences to a genre that is extremely diverse and popular in France, but sometimes more difficult to access when crossing national and linguistic borders. We propose a selection of classics from different periods and styles and hope that French humour, classic comedy stars and directors can be better appreciated thanks to introductions in context and post-screening discussions with the audience.

Over the course of the weekend seven films will be screened at Altrincham Little Theatre, the first at 7pm on Friday evening, three further films on Saturday and three more on Sunday. The theatre will open at 9.30 on Saturday and Sunday morning.

All films will be followed by breaks where coffee and biscuits are served and discussion of the films can take place. There will be lunch breaks on Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend will be led by our guest speaker Isabelle Vanderschelden, former Senior Lecturer in French Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University, who will introduce the films and lead the post-screening discussions.

Pricing: the full programme costs £30.00, any three films are £18.00. Individual film tickets cost £7.00. Book online now.
