We are delighted to have film expert Maggie Hoffgen returning to the Little Theatre to introduce the films for the German Film Season.
After graduating as a foreign language teacher in Germany, Maggie worked at the Goethe-Institut in Manchester as a lecturer and teacher trainer for over 10 years. At Manchester University language centre, Maggie taught courses on language and culture. She is the author of the book Studying German Cinema.
An interest in film led her to do an MA in Film Studies; this has led to a career in lecturing on film. As well as collaborating with Manchester Film Weekender, Maggie has worked on a variety of projects for Cornerhouse and HOME. These include study days, introductions to films and directors, and evening courses on film-related subjects including film noir, sound on film, genre, David Lynch and many more. She also teaches on the BFI Film Academy.
Previously, Maggie has taught film History and classic Hollywood at The University of Salford. She has also written many study materials and articles on film.
