Notti di Cabiria
Nights of Cabiria
Saturday 23rd September 3:15pm

The magnificent Giulietta Masina plays an eternally optimistic streetwalker with a heart of gold and a head of cotton candy in this Oscar-winning masterpiece.
Cabiria (Giulietta Masina) is a street walker living in a poor district of Rome where she owns her own home, has a bank account and dreams of a miracle. As we follow her through days and nights; her boyfriend steals 40,000 lira from her and attempts to drown her; a movie star on the Via Veneto takes her home with him; at a local shrine she seeks the Madonna’s intercession. She then meets an accountant who’s seen her acting out her hearts longings while hypnotised on a music hall stage. He courts her. Is it fate that led to their meeting? Is this finally the man who appreciates her for who she is?
This funny, poignant classic inspired the musical "Sweet Charity".
