Redemption happens in the most unlikely places
In a bare office, an official asks a severe looking woman her plans now she has been pardoned, her life sentence commuted.
Leila (Kaarina Hazard) sits watching, giving nothing away, finally taking the letter he pushes across the desk that offers her room and board.

The visually-stunning Letters to Father Jacob follows two fascinating characters whose paths cross when recently-pardoned Leila goes to work as a personal assistant for Father Jacob, who is old and blind. Leila's job is to read aloud the letters people write to the pastor, requesting his help and prayers. But when the letters stop coming and Father Jacob's world disintegrates, both of them begin to realize they may be just what each other needs.

This award-winning film from 2009 is the fourth by Klaus Härö, one of Finland’s finest modern directors.
