Lucien est un jeune poète inconnu en 1820. Il a de grandes espérances et veut se forger un destin. Il quitte l’imprimerie familiale de sa province natale pour tenter sa chance à Paris, au bras de sa protectrice. Dans la capitale il va découvrir les coulisses d’un monde voué à la loi du profit et des faux semblants. Une comédie humaine où tout s’achète et se vend, dans la littérature comme la presse, la politique comme le théâtre, les réputations comme l’âme.
La journée sera animée par Isabelle Vanderschelden (ex MMU) qui fera l’introduction au film en français et dirigera la séance de l’après-midi - des discussions et des activités autour du film (ENTIÈREMENT EN FRANÇAIS).
Prix d’entrée : pour l’introduction (1000) et la projection du film seulement 1030 – 1300 y compris une brève pause au milieu: £7.00
Le prix comprend des notes en français pour accompagner l’Introduction soit en français soit un résumé en anglais.

A NOTER : La participation l’après- midi exige un bon niveau de français (équivalent au Diplôme de l’OU).

Lucien is an unknown poet in 1820 France. He has high hopes of fame and fortune. He leaves the family printing firm in the provinces to seek his fortune in Paris as the protégé of an aristocratic lady. In the capital he will discover the hidden secrets of a world ruled by the laws of profit making and deception. It is a story of life where everything has its price – in the world of literature and the press, in politics and the theatre, in reputations and the individual soul.
The day will be led by Isabelle Vanderschelden (ex MMU) who will give an Introduction in French and also host the afternoon session of discussions and oral activities based on the film. THIS WILL BE ENTIRELY IN FRENCH.
Entrance: for the Introduction (1000) and the film (1030 - 1300 including a short comfort break) £ 7.00
The price includes either notes in French to accompany the Introduction or an English summary of the same.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in the afternoon session requires a strong level of oral French (equivalent to the OU Diploma).
