Disillusioned by the meaningless talk of their elders, two brothers take a vow of silence when their parents refuse to buy a TV

Yasujiro Ozu's Good Morning is a comedy about a pair of boys who desire a television set like their neighbour's. After begging, pleading and yelling, the boys are admonished for making such a big fuss and talking too much about such frivolity as a TV. They, in turn, complain that adults fill their days with useless small talk and refuse to speak directly to one another about important issues. As a result, the children vow to not speak again until their wish for a TV set is granted.

This film will be accompanied with scenes and discussion of an early 1932 silent film by Ozu, I Was Born, But... which has a similar theme.
