We are delighted to have Dr Carmen Herrero, Reader in Hispanic Studies at MMU, curating the film programme for the 2025 Film Weekender. She will introduce some of the films and lead discussion sessions afterwards.

Carmen teaches Hispanic cinema and culture at undergraduate level. As a lecturer in Spanish language and culture she has a special interest in teaching and researching Spanish cinema, culture and intercultural issues.

Cinema, particularly contemporary Hispanic cinema, is Carmen's primary area of specialism. She leads the Research Group Film, Languages and Media in Education (FLAME). She is also the co-founder and co-director of FILTA (Film in Language Teaching Association) and collaborates with HOME (Manchester) in the Education Events for schools.
